The Communauté d'agglomération de Forbach Porte de France is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté d'agglomération in the Moselle department in the Grand Est region . It was founded on December 23, 2002 and comprises 21 communities near the German border , southwest of Saarbrücken . The administrative seat of the community association is in the city of Forbach .

Historical development

On June 17, 1970, the District de Forbach was formed by a resolution of the prefect with 20 parishes and about 80,000 inhabitants . In December 1996 the community of Morsbach was added. On January 1, 2002, this district was converted into a Communauté de communes . On January 1, 2003, the Communauté d'agglomération was finally formed after the municipalities wanted to strengthen cooperation.
