Patrick Charles Carnegy, 15th Earl of Northesk (born September 23, 1940 ) is a British peer , author , lecturer and record producer .

life and career

Carnegy was born on September 23, 1940 to Reverend Canon Patrick Charles Alexander Carnegy (1893-1969) and Joyce Eleanor Townsley († 1995). He has a younger brother.

He worked as an author, lecturer, music producer and in theater and literature studies. From 1964 to 1969 he was a journalist for the Times Educational Supplement and from 1969 to 1978 in the editing department of The Times Literary Supplement . From 1978 to 1988 he was editor of music books in the Faber and Faber Ltd . From 1979 to 1988 he was director of Faber Music Ltd . He was dramaturge at the Royal Opera House from 1988 to 1992 . From 1994 to 1996 he was a Leverhulme Research Fellow .

Carnegie also created posts in art magazine of BBC Radio 4 , Kaleidoscope , as well as documentaries about Franz Kafka , Thomas Mann and Wagner's Ring , 1998, he was a critic of the Stratford Theater for the Spectator .

Carnegy was a founding member of the Bayreuth International Arts Center . From 1986 to 1989 he was a member of the BBC Central Music Advisory Committee and from 1990 to 1996 he was a member of the BBC General Advisory Council .

In March 2010, he inherited the title of Earl of Northesk from distant relative David Carnegie, 14th Earl of Northesk . He is currently not on the Register of Hereditary Peers , which are available for by-election. (As of May 2012)
