Patrick Dondelinger

Patrick Dondelinger (* 1966 in Luxembourg ) is a Luxembourg scholar and cultural worker .

Live and act

Dondelinger studied history and anthropology at the University of Paris IV , which he completed in 1996 with a double doctorate in religious studies and theology. As a dissertation, he presented a study on exorcism . In addition, he graduated from the University of Paris II with a degree in political science , for which he examined the political ideas of Pope John Paul II .

From 2001 to 2003 he held a professorship for liturgical science at the University of Lucerne .

On behalf of Johannes Mischo and the Institute for Frontier Areas of Psychology and Mental Health , Dondelinger carried out field research at the sites of the apparition of Mary in Lourdes and Marpingen . He also conducted anthropological field research in Africa and North and South America.

From 1998 to 2004 he researched and taught as a professor (maître de conférences) for anthropology at the University of Metz . From 2004 to 2018 he worked for the Service des sites et monuments nationaux , the monument authority of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Since then he has worked at the Center National de l'Audiovisuel, the national institute for photography, film and sound of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg.

On behalf of the Ministry of Culture of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, Dondelinger is responsible for the UNESCO Convention for the Preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage, a member of the Luxembourg Commission for UNESCO and the Reflection Group "EU and Cultural Heritage" and national coordinator of the European Heritage Label.
