life and work

He mainly writes plays and is considered to be one of the few authors in this field who abandons the traditional guidelines of theater and also addresses a younger audience with current language and topics. In the online poll of the 100 Welsh Heroes with a total of over 80,000 votes, carried out by Culturenet Cymru, he reached 32nd place.

The brother of Manic Street Preachers bassist and lyricist Nicky Wire became famous for his 1999 play Everything Must Go , which is about the decline of the Welsh mining industry, desperation and brutal revenge. It bears the same title as a 1996 Manic Street Preachers album and has a character whose lyrics consist almost entirely of lyrics by the band. According to Jones, the play is based on the French film La Haine and led a sold out tour of Great Britain.

His latest play The War Is Dead, Long Live The War is about the fictional meeting of a soldier from the First World War and the Third Gulf War .

For the Manic Street Preachers album Lifeblood from 2004, Jones also wrote some of the lyrics.
