Patrick Kron
Patrick Kron (born September 26, 1953 in Paris ) has been PDG at Alstom since 2003 .
Patrick Kron is the son of Polish-Jewish immigrants who survived the Nazi imprisonment in the concentration camps and moved to France at the end of the 1940s, who has worked his way up to a multi-million dollar job from a poor background. In his youth, Patrick Kron attended the preparatory class of the Paris Lycée Louis-le-Grand , studied engineering first at the Paris École polytechnique and then in the state Corps des Mines , which is subordinate to the Ministry of Finance . From 1979 to 1984 he worked in the French Ministry of Industry .
In the Péchiney Group, which today belongs to the Alcan Group , he had a leading role in manufacturing in Greece and then took over the management of the Greek branch. In 1988 he took over the management of the Electrometallurgy Sector , and in 1993 he joined the top management level of the Péchiney Group and was appointed Head of Carbone Lorraine.
In 1998 he became CEO of Imerys , a world leader in mineral processing.
In January 2003 he became CEO of Alstom and in March of the same year replaced Pierre Bilger as Chairman of the Board of Directors.
On September 30, 2004 he was accepted as a Chevalier (knight) in the Legion of Honor . Since November 18, 2007, he has been an officier member of the Ordre national du Mérite .
