Career

Years of construction

Until the move to TSV Erding in 2000 , Patrick Strauch played for the Cologne EC in the Regionalliga. With the Upper Bavaria he gained experience in the 2nd Bundesliga for the first time. Despite the good performance of 7 goals and 13 goal preparation, Strauch only played for SC Mittelrhein-Neuwied from 2001 to 2003 in the league, where he confirmed his performance with a total of 16 goals and 32 assists. During this time he developed his current style of play: very fast play, team-oriented (many assists) and aggressive play (many penalties). From 2003 to 2005 Strauch signed up to the ESC Mosquitoes Essen . In the first season he made promotion to the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga with the club . That season he sustained a serious jaw injury. The following year, the club managed to keep the class in the playdowns . Patrick Strauch's record: 20 goals, 20 assists but unfortunately also many penalty minutes.

For the 2005/2006 season, Strauch signed with the Revierlöwen Oberhausen . That meant playing in the big leagues again. After less than a year, after a season that was good for Strauch personally (7 goals, 28 assists), he switched to EV Landsberg , where he played two more games in the remainder of the season (without goals and assists but also no penalty minutes).

2nd ice hockey Bundesliga

After winning the championship, Strauch was also able to prove himself in the 2nd Bundesliga in the 2006/2007 season. With 11 goals and 15 assists, he was one of the club's best. After Strauch played for the Heilbronner Falken in the 2007/2008 season and for the Lausitzer Füchsen in 2008/2009 (10 goals in both seasons with a very good 28 assists), he switched to the Dresdner Eislöwen in 2009 . In the following two seasons, Patrick Strauch appeared 99 times, scoring four goals and initiating 22 goals as an assistant.

For the 2012/2013 season he moved to Bad Nauheim and has been playing for EC Bad Nauheim since the 2013/14 season in the second-highest German division, the DEL2 , which was newly founded this season .

In May 2016 he ended his professional career and became a junior coach for the Kölner Haien.

Game character

Patrick Strauch plays as a striker primarily from the right. He changes positions very quickly and quickly switches to defense or attack. In duel situations he shows no shyness, which means that he prevented many possible goals but also often had to concede penalties (760 penalty minutes in 11 seasons, of which only 26 went to his account in the 2010/2011 season). During his time with the Lausitzer Füchsen he was the most punished player in the entire league.

Strauch's commitment on the bench is also special: like a captain, he motivates his teammates and talks through situations and tactics with them. The then sports manager of the Dresdner Eislöwen Steffen Ziesche said of Patrick Strauch when he arrived at the Eislöwen: “Patrick Strauch is a combative, fast and agile player. He's also very helpful to the team and will have a positive influence on the team. "
