Emeth (Hebrew for "truth") is a brutal death metal band from Halen , Limburg , Belgium , which was founded in 1997.
history
The band was founded in October 1997 by Matty Dupont (electric guitar, Aborted ) and Tom Kimps (vocals) as a nameless project. After rehearsing together for a few months, they decided to call the band "Emeth". In 1998 they finished their first demo with The Call of Siren . Through this they caught the attention of Screech Records , who signed the band. In 1999 they released the EP Breathing the Unclean, their first recording on the label. The second demo Disciple followed in the same year .
Due to musical differences, the band separated initially, but reunited in March 2001. The band now consisted of drummer Tom Ales (ex- Necrodochion ), guitarist Matty Dupont and Tom Kimps (vocals). With the changed line-up, their style changed from Deathcore to Brutal Death Metal. In late 2002, the band recorded some music to draw the attention of a label to them. In September 2003 the band recorded their first album called Insidious in Excess Studios in Rotterdam ( Netherlands ) .
After a few months, a suitable label was found in Brutal Bands , so the album was released on June 30, 2004. After the release, the bands played at various festivals such as Obscene Extreme or Deathmetal.Be Fest . In August 2004 a tour followed with headliner Internal Suffering through the USA . Emeth also performed there with bands such as Brodequin , Lust of Decay , Gorgasm , Mutilated , Lividity and Incantation . In April 2005 Kevin Schutters joined the band as bassist and in July guitarist Peter Goemaere. Afterwards the bands performed all over Europe . In July and August 2005 the band went on tour through the USA again with Internal Suffering. Emeth played with bands like Disgorge , Decrepit Birth , Severed Savior , Skinned and Odious Mortem . After the band only appeared at concerts for a year and a half, they moved to the Excess Studio in November 2005 . There they recorded the second album called Reticulated . It was produced by Daniel Bergstrand ( Behemoth , Meshuggah , In Flames ). In January 2006 the album was finally mixed at Dug Out Studios and mastered in Sweden . The album cover and layout were designed by Dirge Design .
In 2008 the band released their third album Telesis on Brutal Bands Records.
style
Emeth's music is described as a mixture of death metal and grindcore . The complexity of the pieces as well as the change between high and low speed are particularly characteristic. The sound is described as a mix between Pig Destroyer and Suffocation .
