Severed Savior is a brutal death metal band that was formed in 1999 in San Francisco , USA . The band's sound is particularly characterized by an extremely fast and technically savvy way of playing. The band is currently under contract with Candlelight Records .

history

Severed Savior was founded in 1999 by Murray Fitzpatrick (first electric guitar, then bass), Mike Gilbert (electric guitar), Troy Fullerton (drums), Dusty Boisjolie (vocals) and Armondo Avolos (bass). Together they developed the first pieces and played some shows in the San Francisco Bay Area and performed with bands such as Incantation , Disgorge and Deeds of Flesh . Shortly afterwards Armondo left the band, Murray gave up his job on the electric guitar and took over the bass. In March 2000, the band recorded their first demo called Puddle of Gore under the direction of Bart Thurber at the House of Faith Studios in Oakland , California .

After the release, the band played a few concerts. In June 2001 guitarist Jared Deaver (ex-Deeds of Flesh, ex- Impaled ) joined. Together they recorded two new songs and were released as an EP, along with the songs from the previous demo as bonus tracks. The EP Forced to Bleed was recorded in August 2001 at J-Lab Studios in Daly City , California. Shortly thereafter, Mike Gilbert left the band and Deaver found a replacement in Rob Lumbre. Forced to Bleed was released on November 24, 2001 via Disfigured Records . After the release, the band signed a contract with Unique Leader Records . Guitarist Lumbre died on January 5th, 2002 in a car accident. A replacement was found briefly in Jason Kramer, but he left the band in August of the same year.

Then the recordings for the first album Brutality Is Law began in the Digit Sound studio in San Pablo , California. The album was released through Unique Leader Records in the US on March 24, 2003 and worldwide in April 2003. Shortly after the release of Brutality Is Law , Deaver left the band and Mike Gilbert returned to the band. In November and December 2003 the band went on tour with Gorgasm , Pyaemia and Spawn of Possession . In July 2004, the band toured North America with Cannibal Corpse and The Black Dahlia Murder .

In 2008 the band released their second album, Servile Insurrection, on Candlelight Records .

style

Characteristic for the pieces of the band are the high technical playing style of the instruments and the extremely deep growling . The playing of the drums is also very style-defining, which is sometimes played very quickly, but is also interrupted by slower passages.

Others

  • Drummer Troy Fullerton is also a drummer for the American death metal band "Carnivorous".
