Gorgasm is a death metal band formed in Chicago in 1994 . The group broke up in December 2008 and came back together in 2010. A year later, the third studio album was released with the name Orgy of Murder .

history

The band was founded in 1994 after the group Crematorium broke up and Tom Tangaloss, Tom Leski and Russ Powell decided to form a band to mix American Grindcore with elements of European Death Metal . After the group had been looking for a singer for a long time, the musicians decided to split up the vocal parts. In the summer of 1996 the first demo with six pieces appeared. After this demo received a great response, Derek Hoffman (including Fleshgrind ) was accepted as a drummer in the band. In March 1998 Gorgasm released her EP Stabwound Intercourse on Pulverized Records . This was followed by appearances at the Milwaukee Metalfest and the Chicago Deathfest .

The group's debut album Bleeding Profusely was released on the Unique Leader Records label. The group then played several concerts. One of them was with the band Lividity . The follow-up album Masticate to Dominate , which came onto the market in 2003, was also released under this label. In June 2007 Gorgasm played at the " Death Feast Openair " at the Dinslaken / Schwarze Heide airfield near Hünxe together with groups such as Grind Inc. , Resurrected , Debauchery and Wormed . The third album Orgy of Murder was released in 2011.

The group broke up in December 2008, but got back together in 2010 and worked on the third album, which was released in 2011. Gorgasm changed labels again. The band is now under contract with New Standard Elite , which resulted in their fourth studio album Destined to Violate being released in 2014 .

In France there is the band Gorod , which was also called Gorgasm at the beginning. There is also a band of the same name in China. This was previously called Cervical Erosion.

Cover and texts

The group is known for their shocking cover art, for example the cover Masticate to Dominate , which u. a. shows a naked, mutilated woman. The follow-up album Orgy of Murder shows a similar scenario: a naked man beheads a woman. Several naked people can be seen in the background.

The group's texts mostly cover topics such as sodomy , assault , sexual intercourse , murder , necrophilia and coprophilia . Sometimes it happens that several themes appear in a song. The album Masticate to Dominate is a concept album and tells the story from the point of view of a psychopathic and sadistic killer who enjoys the corpses of his victims.
