Gorod is a technical death metal band from Bordeaux , France .

history

The band was founded in 1997 under the name Gorgasm by Guillaume Martinot (vocals), Mathieu Pascal (electric guitar), Arnaud Pontaco (electric guitar), Sandrine (drums) and Benoit Claus (electric bass). She released her debut album Neurotripsicks in 2004 on Deadsun Records. In 2005 she changed her name to Gorod to avoid confusion with an American band that was also called Gorgasm. She re-released her debut album in 2005 on Willowtip Records .

Since the name change, Gorod released two more studio albums, including Process of a New Decline , which was released in Europe on June 2, 2009 on Willowtip Records. Gorod has become more widely known since her performance at the 2007 Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore , USA .

In June 2011 the EP Transcendence was released as a download via Bud Records . The EP could also be obtained at the Gorod concerts. The EP also featured a cover of the song Textures , originally by Cynic . Ross Dolan from Immolation was a guest singer on the EP.

In 2018 the band released their sixth album Æthra . The band took around four months to create the album.

style

Gorod plays a technically demanding version of Death Metal. Playing the guitars in particular is very complex. The works are partly borrowed from jazz and are compared with the works of other bands such as Necrophagist , Cynic and Death .
