Patrik Baumann (born July 29, 1986) is a Swiss football player . He is a trained midfielder, but now plays more often as a right-back or center-back.
Baumann started his career at FC Amicitia Riehen . He then played for the youth teams of FC Concordia Basel and FC Basel , with whom he won the U18 championship in 2004. From 2005 he played for the second team of FC Basel and a year later he was promoted to the professional squad. There he won the Swiss Cup in the 2006/07 season , but only made two Super League and three Swiss Cup appearances in a year and a half . That's why he switched to FC Concordia Basel on loan in January 2008, who played in the Challenge League . After negotiations about a 3-year contract extension with FC Basel, Baumann was without a club for a few months due to a foot operation. After he first played with FC Solothurn in the third division first division at the beginning of the 2009/10 season , he signed a contract with SC Kriens in January 2010 , with whom he played again in the Challenge League. For the 2010/11 season he moved to Servette FC Genève, with whom he was promoted to the Super League in the same season . In the decisive barrage game against AC Bellinzona , Baumann sensationally scored two goals for a 3-1 victory. After he had established himself as a regular at Servette in the Super League 8 games, he tore the cruciate ligament on his right knee. His contract in Geneva was not extended any further due to two complications on his knee and a one and a half year long injury break and finally expired on November 30, 2012.
After a season at FC Winterthur , where he tore his cruciate ligament on the same knee for the second time after an almost complete season and a short time after that at SC YF Juventus , the promotion scorer returned to Servette on January 19, 2016 , where he then returned also ended his professional career after another promotion with Servette in the Challenge League and a lot of bad luck with injuries.
Baumann played a total of 5 games for the Swiss U21 national team .
