Patsy O'Hara
Patsy O'Hara ( Irish Peatsaí Ó hEadhra ; born July 11, 1957 in Derry , Northern Ireland , † May 21, 1981 in Maze Prison near Lisburn ) was a member of the INLA and a hunger striker .
In 1975, around three years after the events on Bloody Sunday in his hometown, O'Hara became a member of the INLA . In January 1980, after having been detained several times for his activities in the INLA, he was sentenced to eight years in prison for possession of a hand grenade. He served them, like Bobby Sands , in Maze Prison .
Here he and numerous other prisoners went on a hunger strike from 1981 on March 22, 1981 , as a result of which he died 61 days later.
The RAF named the command that murdered MTU boss Ernst Zimmermann in 1985 after O'Hara. The Bielefeld post-hardcore band Patsy O'Hara was also named after him .
