Paul Beckmann

Paul Beckmann (born March 12, 1881 in Solingen ; † December 12, 1963 ) was a German entrepreneur.

Life

He was the son of the businessman and secret councilor Fritz Beckmann and his wife Anna Henriette Henckels (1855-1911). Through this marriage, his father became co-owner of the company JA Henckels Zwillingswerk in Solingen (today Zwilling JA Henckels ) and later its partner and managing director.

After attending the secondary school in Solingen, Paul Beckmann switched to the municipal secondary school in Bonn. He then studied at the universities of Freiburg im Breisgau , Munich and Leipzig . Paul Beckmann doctorate in Leipzig for Dr. phil. The subject of his dissertation, which appeared in print in Weida in 1907, was: On the knowledge of the occlusion and diffusion of gases through metals .

After three years of practical work at the sales office of JA Henckels in New York , established in 1883 , Paul Beckmann became an authorized signatory in Solingen. In 1919, after the death of his father, he joined the JA Henckels Zwillingswerk company as a personally liable partner. Later he took over his father's company as factory owner and managing director, most recently as general director.

From 1938 to 1943 Paul Beckmann was also President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Solingen .

He was a member of the German Dendrological Society .
