Paul Berthon
Louis Joseph Paul Berthon (born March 15, 1872 in Villefranche-sur-Saône , † February 27, 1934 in Sceaux ) was a French painter, lithographer, poster artist and designer of Art Nouveau .
Born the son of a primary school inspector, he began studying painting in his hometown of Villefranche-sur-Saône. In 1893 he moved to Paris, where he studied at the École normal d'enseignement du dessin with Luc-Olivier Merson and Puvis de Chavannes . He then became a student of Eugène Grasset . Until around 1896 he painted in the style of grass sets, then he devoted himself exclusively to Art Nouveau.
Paul Berthon also dealt with furniture design, for the company Villeroy & Boch he designed many ceramic products.
Died at the age of 36, he left hundreds of different black and white and multicolor lithographs.
