Paul thistle hat
Paul Distelhut (* 1914 ; † 2002 ) was a German trade unionist and local politician of the SPD .
Paul Distelhut came from a traditional SPD family and political parents. In 1948 Paul Distelhut took over the chairmanship of the SPD in Mainz-Mombach . From 1952 to 1979 he was a city council member in Mainz , from 1965 to 1977 chairman of the SPD city council group and since 1979 an honorary citizen .
Paul Distelhut was district manager of the Union of Railway Workers in Germany .
Within the Mainz model, which included all parties in power in the city, he worked with Jockel Fuchs , Heinz Laubach and Günter Storch . He agreed with many representatives of other parties in the post-war period who, after the end of Nazi rule, wanted above all "that something like this should never happen again".
His daughter was the Mainz local politician Ursula Distelhut .
