Life

Paul Ehrenreich studied medicine and natural sciences in Berlin , Heidelberg University and Würzburg . In Heidelberg he was a member of the Corps Suevia .

He became interested in anthropological research from an early age. In 1884/85 he traveled to eastern Brazil, took part in the second German Xingu expedition under Karl von den Steinen to Brazilian Indian tribes of the Mato Grosso from 1887 to 1888 , and made an important contribution to the research of the Bororó Indians on the São Lourenço River and various tribes the Tocantins and Araguaia rivers .
