Paul Erdmann Isert (* 1756 in Angermünde ; † January 21, 1789 , Gold Coast (colony) ) was a German doctor , botanist and zoologist in the Danish service.

He was born in Angermünde / Brandenburg, but received his education in Denmark . He was the first scientist to discover the bird species shield turaco ( Musophaga violacea ) in what is now Ghana . He was also known for his efforts to end the Danish-Norwegian slave trade .
