Paul Francis Gray

Sir Paul Francis Gray KCMG ( December 2, 1908 , † 1990 ) was a British diplomat .

Life

Paul Francis Gray was the son of Margaret Rosaliee Teresa Mary Alleyne and Colonel Arthur Gray. He attended Charterhouse School , Godalming, Surrey and then studied at Christ Church College , University of Oxford . Gray married Agnes Mary Weld-Blundell on October 27, 1936.

He joined the Foreign Service in 1947 and became a Companion in the Order of St. Michael and St. George on June 7, 1951, where he was promoted to Knight Commander in 1963 .

From 1951 to 1954 he was envoy to Moscow , from 1954 to 1957 State Secretary in the Foreign Office . From August 1, 1957 to 1960, he was ambassador to Prague . He was ambassador to Bern from 1960 to 1964 and retired in 1968 .
