Paul Gulda

Paul Gulda (born October 25, 1961 in Vienna ) is an Austrian pianist , composer and conductor .

Life

Paul Gulda is the second eldest son of Friedrich Gulda and took piano lessons from him, among others. Further teachers were Roland Batik , Leonid Brumberg and Rudolf Serkin . In addition to playing the piano, he studied recorder and clarinet at the Vienna University of Music .

Paul Gulda has also been composing since 1995. Mainly it concerns incidental music for plays by Howard Barker , Franz Xaver Kroetz , Johann Nestroy a . a. In 1997 he made his debut as a conductor with the Linz Concert Association .

In addition to his work as a pianist with solo performances as well as with well-known orchestras under famous conductors, Gulda is engaged in various musical projects. One of the best known is “Haydn alla Zingarese” (an interplay of classical musicians with a Roma band) as well as conceptions and presentations of musical and literary programs.

Paul Gulda is a member of the RE.FUGIUS association, which campaigns for the investigation of the Rechnitz massacre .

In April 2011 Paul Gulda was awarded the Women's Ring Prize for special achievements based on feminist principles from the Austrian Women's Ring .
