Austrian women's ring
The Austrian Women's Ring (ÖFR) is the non-party and non- denominational umbrella organization of Austrian women's associations and was founded in 1969.
The ÖFR has always seen itself as representing the interests of Austrian women. Its central concerns are the protection of the rights of all women and gender equality . The chairmen of the women's ring were personalities like Johanna Dohnal , Marilies Flemming , Irmgard Schmidleithner, Eva Salomon, Sabine Oberhauser , Christa Pölzlbauer and Sonja Ablinger. Klaudia Frieben has been chairwoman of the organization since June 2018.
Members
In total, the ÖFR has more than 40 member organizations and thus indirectly represents around one million women. In addition to representatives of the political parties, women's organizations, trade unions and professional bodies, the Catholic and Evangelical Churches, autonomous women's groups and independent women's organizations are also members of the ÖFR. The Austrian Women's Ring is also a member of the European Women's Lobby (EWL) in Brussels. Member organizations include:

Goals and Activities
The work of the ÖFR covers a number of areas. On the one hand, the Österreichischer Frauenring creates the technical basis for the work of the member organizations and, on the other hand, prepares suggestions and statements on topics that are relevant for women. He also does public relations work in relation to women's demands. The planning and implementation of joint actions by the associations is also one of the core activities of the ÖFR. The aim of such actions is always to achieve equality between women and men. Ultimately, establishing and maintaining contacts with women's associations in other countries and with international organizations is an important concern of the organization.
Women's Ring Prize
Since 2011, the Austrian Women's Ring has been awarding the Women's Ring Prize for special achievements based on feminist principles.
- In 2011 the prize was awarded to the ORF journalist Renata Schmidtkunz and the musician Paul Gulda .
- In 2014 three women were honored: Irma Schwager , anti-fascist resistance fighter and peace activist, Ulrike Truger , sculptor, and Christiana Jankovics, ORF works councilor and member of the foundation board.
- In 2015 Elfriede Hammerl , Susanne Riegler , Susanne Kirchmayr and Ursula Kubes-Hofmann were honored.
- 2016: Sibylle Hamann , Gabriella Hauch and Ulli Weish
- 2017: Elisabeth Holzleithner , Käthe Kratz and Esra Özmen
- 2018: Kazuko Kurosaki (Aiko), Ingrid Nikolay-Leitner and Nicola Werdenigg
