Renata Schmidtkunz (born October 13, 1964 in Hattingen , Germany ) is a journalist and Protestant theologian. She has been working as an editor, filmmaker and presenter at ORF in Vienna since 1990 .

Life

In April 1970, the Schmidtkunz family moved from North Rhine-Westphalia to Austria , where their father worked as a Protestant pastor, first in Laa an der Thaya , later in Marchtrenk and finally in Spittal an der Drau . Renata Schmidtkunz graduated from high school in Spittal an der Drau. She then studied Protestant theology in Vienna and Montpellier and for a few semesters journalism and communication studies .

From 1989 to 1990 she worked as an editorial assistant at Bayerischer Rundfunk for the series Bibel im Bild. In 1990 she began her extensive engagement with ORF as an editor, filmmaker and presenter. From 1994 to 1998 Schmidtkunz wrote columns and articles for the daily newspaper Der Standard . Schmidtkunz moderated 1997-2001 The box for the Department of Religion television ORF, manages since 1999 calls the Ö1 telecast in conversation moderated since 2003, the science program Radiokolleg on Ö1 and was from 2008 to 2012 in the moderator team of the newly purchased Club 2 .

From 1994 to 1998 Schmidtkunz was a lecturer in systematic theology at the University of Vienna . Since 1992 she has been a board member of the Evangelical Academy Vienna . She was co-initiator of the popular initiative welfare state Austria. In her documentaries and radio reports she deals with contemporary historical, cultural, philosophical and theological issues.

On December 1, 2013, Renata Schmidtkunz took over the Ö1 series "In Conversation" as the person responsible for broadcasting.

In the 2013–14 season of the Burgtheater she acted as a moderator in the project The Last Witnesses by Doron Rabinovici and Matthias Hartmann .

She has a daughter and lives in Vienna.
