Paul Herrmann (* before 1906 in Cainsdorf ; † after 1940 ) was a German miner , social democrat and, as a politician, a member of the Saxon state parliament in the Free State of Saxony in the Weimar Republic for three electoral terms.

Life

Herrmann, who lives in Cainsdorf, was a miner in the Zwickau coal field . He was a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany and was politically active for it in the West Saxony area (roughly in the area of the Zwickau district team ) .

He was for the SPD in three legislative periods (1926-1933) as a member of "constituency 3" in the Saxon state parliament . At different times as a member of the state parliament he was a member of budget committee B , member of the advisory board for the lime works (decision 8) and member of the investigative committee Böhlen (decision 81 of the state parliament). He particularly represented the interests of miners with the aim of better accident protection and disability benefits.

On the evening of March 31, 1932, an armed attack was carried out on Herrmann in his hometown, in which four shots were fired at him. The responsible police did not take up the case until 13 hours later, and no information was given to the public prosecutor or the political police . The process came up to the Saxon state parliament.

In May 1933, taken into “ protective custody ” by the National Socialists and probably out of custody and under considerable pressure, he had given a declaration of consent to the so-called “ Enabling Act ”, which the Nazi press appropriately exploited.
