Paul Julian James (born September 11, 1964 in Leicester , England ) is an English basketball coach and former player. As a player and coach, James was active for the Tigers and their successor club Heat in the British Basketball League for a long time .

As a player, he won the "BBL Trophy" league cup three times and the "National Cup" cup competition twice. The former England international also began his coaching career with the Tigers. It was only after the franchise was re-established in 2005 as Heat in Guildford that titles were also won. As the trainer of the Heat, James won all of the BBL's competitions between 2007 and 2008 once, and in 2007 he was named BBL's Trainer of the Year. In 2009 he succeeded Chuck Evans as coach of the Worcester Wolves and in 2010 was also planned as a coach for the English national team at the " FIBA Commonwealth Championships" as part of the 2010 Commonwealth Games , after having previously coached English youth teams. The 2010 tournament was finally canceled after clashes with other obligations of the main participating countries. In the 2013/14 season James won with the Wolves in the BBL play-offs, their first title in this division.
