The South Korean island of Yeongjongdo is located in the Yellow Sea off the west coast of the city of Incheon in South Korea. She herself belongs to an exclave of the Jung-gu ( 중구 , 中 區 ) district of the city of Incheon.
geography
The island is 2.5 km from Wolmido Island ( 월미도 ) and 52 km from the capital, Seoul . In the center of the island is Mount Baegusan . One of the most famous beaches on the island is Eulwangni Beach ( 을왕리 해수욕장 ), which was previously known as "Eolhang".
Other names
The island is also called "Swallow Island" (Jayeondo) because of the very large number of swallows .
history
Through land reclamation , the former Yeongjongdo with the islands Yongyudo (was 용유도 , 龍游島 ) in the west, Sammokdo ( 삼목 도 , 三木島 ) in the northwest and Sinbuldo ( 신불 도 , 薪佛島 ) in the southwest of the island today Yeongjongdo connected to accommodate to create the construction of Incheon Airport .
Infrastructure
The island is connected to the mainland by two bridges. The Yeongjong Bridge (part of Expressway 130 ) connects the island with the Seo-gu ( 서구 , 西區 ) district and the Incheon Bridge (part of Expressway 110 ) connects the island with the Songdo International Business District .
