Paul Karl Julius Hahn

Paul Karl Julius Hahn (born March 13, 1893 in Salbke ; † August 12, 1960 in Magdeburg ) was a German resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Life

Paul Hahn was born as the son of warehouse worker Julius Hahn. He learned the trade of a locksmith and began to get involved in politics. In February 1919 he was one of the founders of the Magdeburg branch of the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) alongside Karl Baier , Jacob Draisbach , Else and Karl Reimann and Albert Vater . In 1920 he was temporarily a member of the Communist Workers' Party of Germany (KAPD). The KAPD represented council communist views and was mainly recruited from former KPD members who had been excluded in 1920. Hahn worked as an agitator for the KAPD in the Braunschweig region .

During the time of National Socialism he formed a resistance group at the Magdeburg Krupp subsidiary Friedrich Krupp AG Grusonwerk , which included communists and members of the SPD . The group worked with the resistance groups around Hermann Danz and Martin Schwantes .

Hahn was arrested several times, was subject to police supervision and was threatened with the death penalty . Overall, he was imprisoned in concentration camps for over ten years . He survived imprisonment and died in Magdeburg in 1960.
