Paul Kickstat

Paul Kickstat (born January 13, 1893 in Bochum , † November 5, 1959 in Hamburg ) was a German organist and music teacher.

Life

Paul Kickstat initially studied natural sciences in Freiburg im Breisgau and Kiel, but at the same time was an organ student of Gustav Knak. From 1920 to 1921 Kickstat worked as a theory teacher at the Bernut Conservatory in Hamburg. From 1924 to 1944 he was cantor and organist of the Christian Church ("Klopstock Church") in Hamburg-Ottensen. In addition, he was always active in music education, especially in church music. As a part-time lecturer at the Pedagogical Academy in Hamburg-Altona, Kickstat taught from 1930 to 1931, as well as a teacher at the Gustav Knak church music school in Hamburg. He then became a lecturer in theory at the Schleswig-Holstein State Music School in Lübeck. From 1945 to 1951 he worked as a teacher at the church music school in Hamburg. He taught privately , among others, to Hans Friedrich Micheelsen and Detlef Kraus .
