Paul Korde

Paul Korde (born February 6, 1899 in Ottmadan ( Silesia ); † May 15, 1985 in Frankfurt am Main ) was the first president of the Central Postal Service in Darmstadt from 1949 to 1964 .

Life

After studying to become a Dr. jur. On January 28, 1929, he joined the Deutsche Reichspost and worked in the Reichspostdirections in Breslau , Hamburg and Dresden . After the war he was department head for the postal service at the Oberpostdirektion Frankfurt am Main and temporarily also head of the post office Frankfurt am Main 1. He was promoted to Ministerialrat at the main administration for the postal and telecommunications system of the United Economic Area in 1949. With his activity as the first President of the PTZ from March 14, 1949 to February 29, 1964, he had a decisive influence on the development of the Deutsche Bundespost . During his time, among other things, the automation of the mail service and the four-digit postcode were introduced.
