Paul Lärtz

Paul Lärtz (born January 1, 1885 in Heilsberg , † April 10, 1967 in Hildburghausen ) was a German politician ( USPD , SPD ).

Life and work

Paul Lärtz was born on January 1st, 1885 as the son of a working class family in Heilsberg. After attending primary school, he completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter and carpenter. He then worked as a carpenter in Steinach until 1919 .

Lärtz joined the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) during the German Empire and, in 1917, switched to the Independent Social Democrats (USPD) as an opponent of the truce policy . In 1919/20 he was a member of the state parliament of the Free State of Saxony-Meiningen , where he served as a State Councilor in the state government from 1919 to July 1920 .

Lärtz was a member of the Thuringian People's Council in 1919/20 and a member of the Thuringian state parliament from 1920 to 1933 . In 1922 he became a member of the SPD again. He was also a full-time alderman from 1920 to 1927 and mayor of Steinach from 1927 to 1933 .
