Paul Lemmerz
Paul Lemmerz (born February 6, 1907 , † February 28, 1977 ) was a wheel manufacturer, entrepreneur and founder from Königswinter .
In 1935 he took over the management of Lemmerz-Werk GmbH from his father Johann Lemmerz . In 1949 Paul Lemmerz invented the four-part pressed tapered shoulder rim with high load capacity for commercial vehicles. In 1953 he donated the Lemmerz outdoor pool in Königswinter on the northern slope of the Drachenfels and in 1978 the Paul Lemmerz indoor pool, which he also donated and named after him, was opened.
In 1997 the Lemmerz factory merged with the American Hayes Wheels International to form the world's largest manufacturer of car wheels, Hayes Lemmerz . In 2012, when the company was taken over by the Brazilian Iochpe Maxion Group, it was merged into Maxion Wheels .
From 1952, Paul Lemmerz, like his father, was a member of the city council for many years.
