Paul Lindt (born September 9, 1859 in Bern , † June 15, 1913 in Windschläg ) was a Swiss architect .

Life

After attending the Cantonal School in Bern, Lindt studied architecture at the Technical University of Stuttgart from 1878 to 1882 and then continued his studies in Paris. In 1885 and 1886 he was employed by the Cantonal Construction Office in Bern before he worked for Friedrich Schneider. During this time he was already working on his first orders, for example the Innere Enge farm (1891–92). In 1893 he was able to set up a joint office ( Lindt and Hünerwadel ) with his friend Ernst Hünerwadel, who was two years older than him, and which they ran until his brief departure in 1899. Together they created the representative Falkenburg residential group (from 1894), the administration building of the Swiss Real Estate Insurance Company (1896–99) and the Kurhaus on Grimmialp in Diemtigtal (1899, with Albert Gerster ). Possibly at the same time he also owned the Lindt and Hofmann office , Max Hofmann then became his sole partner from the turn of the century, he continued to run the office after Lindt's death. In this partnership, Lindt's most famous building, the Casino in Bern (1906–08), also the Grand Hotel Gurnigelbad (1902–05, with Albert Gerster), the business and guild house at Mittellöwen (1905), Hotel Bellevue Palace (1913) came into being . The Tiefenau Community Hospital (1912-14) was completed posthumously.

Lindt was politically active in the conservative parliamentary group for several electoral terms as a city councilor in his hometown. He died at the age of 53 near Offenburg in Baden as a result of a car accident.
