Severin Eisenberger ( Polish Seweryn Eisenberger ; born July 25, 1879 in Krakow , † December 11, 1945 in New York ) was a Polish pianist and university professor.

Eisenberger's father was concertmaster of the Krakow Symphony Orchestra. When the son showed extraordinary talent at an early age, he took lessons from the piano teacher Flora Grzywinska. At the age of eight he made his first appearance with Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 2 . He then studied with Heinrich Ehrlich in Berlin and Theodor Leschetizky in Vienna . He gave numerous concerts, mainly Beethoven, but also Brahms, whom he once met. He also tried his hand at composing and conducting, but found that he was more interested in interpreting. He was friends with Jakob Wassermann and Arthur Schnitzler , whose daughter took piano lessons with him. Students in Berlin were among others Heinrich Kaminski and Lili Kraus . From 1903 to 1911 he was a piano teacher at the Stern Conservatory , from 1914 to 1921 he was a piano teacher at the Krakow Conservatory and from 1922 in Vienna, where he was a member of the Vienna Trio .

In 1928, after having written contacts with Ossip Salomonowitsch Gabrilowitsch and Ignaz Friedman , he moved to the USA , where he continued his teaching and concert activities at Cincinnati College in Cleveland and exerted a great deal of influence in Cleveland and Cincinnati. Vivian Harvey Slater was a student . On his New York debut in 1930, the critics described him as a great pianist in the line of Alfred Reisenauer and Eugen d'Albert , both important students of Franz Liszt . In addition to the works of Beethoven, Chopin and Schuhmann, Eisenberger had an extensive repertoire and gave lavish concerts. His last public appearance was in 1941 with the Cleveland Orchestra under Artur Rodziński with Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 .

Many of his students made careers as concert pianists, composers and teachers, including Lili Kraus, Heinrich Kaminski, Sylvia Straus Heschel , Herbert Haufrecht and Vivien Harvey Slater, who was his assistant until 1945.

Eisenberger's daughter Agnes Eisenberger (1932–2002) was the concert manager and translator of Johannes Brahms' notebooks .
