Alfred Reisenauer (born November 1, 1863 in Koenigsberg ; † October 3, 1907 in Libau ) was a German pianist , composer and music teacher .

Life

Reisenauer was a child prodigy ; he was briefly a student of Louis Köhler and from 1874 a student of Franz Liszt , with whom he stayed until his death in 1886. He was one of the most important piano teachers and pianists of his time, from 1885 he was the first piano teacher at the Sondershausen Conservatory , from 1900 piano teacher at the Leipzig Conservatory and later director of the same. His students include Sigfrid Karg-Elert , Sergej Bortkiewicz , Bruno Hinze-Reinhold and Anatol von Roessel .

As a pianist he was extremely successful and known for his sensitive playing. He had his greatest successes as a pianist in Germany and Russia. In total, he gave more than 2000 concerts, including in Berlin and Leipzig numerous in Helsinki, Moscow and Siberia, Boston (Mass.) And New York, but also in China. He set numerous songs to music .

On April 10, 1905 he took ten piano pieces for the reproduction piano Welte-Mignon in Leipzig recording studio of Welte on.

Reisenauer became a heavy alcoholic and drank large quantities of champagne on his concert tours. He died in his hotel room during a concert tour in Libau in 1907 after giving a dazzling performance.
