Paul Machemehl

Paul Machemehl (born June 22, 1845 in Austin County , Texas , † January 22, 1932 ibid) was a German-Texan conscientious objector during the War of Civilizations .

Paul was a son of the German forester Johann Machemehl (1816-1880) and his wife Henrietta (1814-1850). The family immigrated to Texas and settled there.

Paul Machemehl led the flight of many German-Texans to Mexico who wanted to evade forced recruitment into the Confederation Army during the War of Secession .

He was married to Hermine Brune (1856-1936). His son Louis A. Machemehl (1881–1952) was a German-Texan citizen leader and well-known farmer and cattle dealer. He was married to Adelheid Reichardt (1882–1949).
