Paul Marco (born June 10, 1925 in Los Angeles , † May 14, 2006 in Hollywood ) was an American actor who was best known for appearances in films by Ed Wood .

Life

Marco took lessons in acting, singing and dance and initially played as an actor on smaller theater stages. In 1944 he made his feature film debut in the Archie Mayo musical Sweet and Low-Down . His career initially went without any significant climaxes, until in the early 1950s the American parapsychologist and television presenter Criswell Marco prophesied an important career and introduced him to the B-movie director Ed Wood . Under the direction of the "worst director of all time" ( Golden Turkey Award ) Marco played in several productions. He played a total of three times - in the films Bride of the Monster , Night of the Ghouls and Plan 9 from Outer Space - the fearful and clumsy police officer "Kelton". Then the collaboration with Wood ended and Marco withdrew more and more from the job. His recent productions included the drama The Young Wilds starring Burt Lancaster and an episode of the television series 77 Sunset Strip .

It wasn't until Tim Burton's film portrait Ed Wood (1994) brought Marco back a certain popularity. In the film, Marco (played by Max Casella ) founds his own fan club after the end of his film career, which he heads as president, and spends a lot of energy on signing autographs for supposed fans.

In 2005 he was seen in the compilation film The Naked Monster for the last time in the role of Officer Kelton .

Paul Marco died at the age of 80 after long-term health problems on May 14, 2006.
