Paul Molac

Paul Molac (born May 21, 1962 in Ploërmel ) is a French politician who is particularly committed to the preservation of Breton culture. He has been a member of the French National Assembly since May 2012 .

Life

Paul Molac comes from a farming family and initially studied agriculture himself. After studying history, however, he became a history and geography teacher. He is involved in several cultural associations in Brittany and speaks both Breton and Gallo . In 2009 he became the first President of the Conseil culturel de Bretagne , a new advisory body in the field of culture created by the Regional Council of Brittany.

Politically, Paul Molac is close to the Unvaniezh Demokratel Breizh party (Breton for Democratic Union of Brittany , UDP), but without being a member. In the parliamentary elections in 2012 he was elected to the National Assembly as a candidate for the UDP with the support of the Parti socialiste and Europe Écologie Les Verts . He joined the green faction there. In 2017 he ran again, but this time for La République en Marche , and was one of only four MEPs to be re-elected in the first round with 54% of the vote.
