Paul Pallath

Paul Pallath (born June 7, 1959 in Ezhacherry , Kerala , India ) is an Indian priest .

Life

He attended St. John's LP School in Ezhacherry, Sacred Heart Upper Primary School in Ramapuram, and St. Augustine's High School in Ramapuram. After his training in the small seminary at the Good Shepherd Seminary in Palai , he continued his philosophical and theological studies at the Pontifical Institute for Theology and Philosophy in Alwaye (Kerala). He was ordained a priest for the diocese of Palai on January 3, 1987. He has three sisters and one brother.

He spent more than 16 years (from May 15, 1995 to September 30, 2011) as an employee of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Order of the Sacraments in the Vatican City in Rome . Pope John Paul II awarded him the title of Chaplain to His Holiness on November 3, 1999 . From 1996 to 2001 he was a member of the Vatican Liturgical Commission for the Jubilee Year 2000. Since the academic year 2003-2004 he has been a professor at the Pontifical Oriental Institute in Rome. On October 1, 2011, he was transferred to the Tribunal of the Roman Rota and on July 10, 2012, Benedict XVI appointed him . to head of office. On September 16, 2013, Pope Francis promoted him to relator of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints and on February 19, 2014 to advisor to the Congregation for the Eastern Churches .
