The diocese of Palai ( Latin : Dioecesis Palaiensis ) is a diocese of the Syro-Malabar Church, which is united with the Roman Catholic Church and is based in Palai in India . It includes the Taluk Meenachil and some villages of the neighboring Taluk in Kottayam in the Indian state of Kerala .

history

Pope Pius XII founded it with the Apostolic Constitution Quo Ecclesiarum on July 25, 1950 from cession of territory to the Eparchy Kottayam and was subordinated to the Archdiocese of Ernakulam as a suffragan .

On July 29, 1956, it became a part of the ecclesiastical province of the Changanacherry Archeparchy .
