Paul Reinhart (freedom fighter)
Paul Reinhart (born February 17, 1748 in Weinfelden ; † November 22, 1824 ibid) led the canton of Thurgau (Switzerland) to freedom in the early spring of 1798.
On February 1, 1798, from the stairs of the "Trauben" on the Rathausplatz in Weinfelden , he demanded the release of Thurgau from centuries of subjection as common rule of the federal places.
His house, which he built in 1794, as well as various pieces of furniture and objects from his property (mostly owned by the Political Community of Weinfelden) have been preserved to this day.
