Paul Richter (painter)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paul Richter (* 1874 ; † September 28, 1972 ) was a German painter . He is also known as an illustrator of identification books.

Paul Richter was employed by the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory from 1898 , initially as a painter and drawing teacher, and later as the head of flower painting. He designed his own decorations early on, including a well-known Art Nouveau " maple pattern " in 1904 .

But even in his retirement he remained active as a painter and from 1945 illustrated a number of natural history books by Neumann-Neudamm-Verlag , including a five-volume work on the flora and fauna of the Central European forest from 1950 to 1970 without interruption. The fact that these identification books written by Gottfried Amann became bestsellers and have remained so to this day is largely due to Richter's detailed and true-to-life color tables.

Paul Richter died on September 28, 1972 at the age of 98.
