from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paul S. Aspinwall (born January 26, 1964 in England ) is a British theoretical physicist and mathematician who deals with string theory (dualities and mirror symmetry, D-brane, Calabi-Yau manifolds) and as a mathematician with algebraic geometry.

Aspinwall studied at Oxford University with a focus on theoretical elementary particle physics. He received his bachelor's degree in 1985 and received his doctorate in 1991. He is a professor of math and physics at Duke University .

In 1998 he was invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians in Berlin (String theory and duality). In 1999 he was a Sloan Research Fellow .
