Paul Schmidt (medical officer)

Paul Schmidt (born April 29, 1856 in Merseburg , † October 21, 1921 in Berlin ) was a German medical officer in the Imperial Navy with the rank of admiral .

Life

Schmidt studied from 1874 to 1878 at the Medical-Surgical Friedrich Wilhelm Institute and in 1874 joined the Pépinière Corps Franconia. The Friedrich-Wilhelms University in Berlin doctorate him in 1879 to Dr. med. Schmidt joined the Imperial Navy on May 11, 1878 and was promoted to second class naval assistant doctor in January 1880. From 1 October 1889 he was for exactly six years at the Marinemedizinalabteilung of Reichsmarineamt commanded. From April 5, 1904, Schmidt served as the Navy's general staff doctor. At the same time he was chief of the marine medical corps and head of the marine medical department in the Reichsmarineamt. In this capacity, on June 21, 1907, with the rank of Vice Admiral, he was promoted to Navy General Staff Doctor. During the First World War , Schmidt was put up for disposition on May 24, 1916, and was given the personal rank of admiral .
