Paul Seitz (composer)

Paul Seitz (born November 15, 1951 in Racine , Wisconsin ) is an American composer and music teacher .

Seitz studied composition and music theory at the University of Wisconsin – Madison and music education at the Teachers College of Columbia University . His composition teachers were Stephen Dembski , Fred Lerdahl , Joel Naumann and Robert Crane . He has taught music theory at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and music theory and composition at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas , the University of Texas at Tylor and, since 2009, at the University of Missouri .

Seitz composed vocal works, chamber music and symphonic works. They were u. a. in the Symphony Hall in Boston, the Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville, at the World Saxophone Congress in Ljubljana, the Festival Internationale del Sassofono in Faenza, the ClarinetFest 2008 and 2012, the concerts of the New York Viola Society and the New York Festival of Song the Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Las Vegas International New Music Festival . In 2001 his opera The Children of the Keweenaw, based on a libretto by Kathleen Masterson , was premiered at the Pine Mountain Music Festival under the direction of William Farlow and the conductor Donald Schleicher .
