Tatsuo Suzuki ( jap. 鈴木辰夫 , Suzuki Tatsuo * 27. April 1928 in Yokohama , Japan ; † 12. July 2011 ) was a karate - Grand Master , who in the mid-1960s, the style Wado-Ryu brought to Europe and spread.

Suzuki began kendo as a schoolboy and joined karate at the age of 14 . From 1945 to 1956 he trained with the style founder Hironori Ōtsuka , from whom he received the 5th Dan in 1951 at the age of only 24 years .

From 1964, Suzuki began to spread wadō-ryū with other karate masters in Europe and America in the form of demonstrations and courses. A year later he moved to England, where he founded the first Wadō-Ryū association UKKF (United Kingdom Karate-do Federation) in January 1968 , which in 1971 had over 2000 members in over 80 clubs. His organization was renamed the Wado International Karate-Do Federation (WIKF) in 1991 .

Tatsuo Suzuki trained European competitive athletes together with Teruo Kono . Until his death he led technical karate seminars in Europe.

Besides karate practiced since 1950 Suzuki Zen - meditation .
