Paul Steel (born August 15, 1970 in Whakatāne ) is a former New Zealand squash player .

Career

Paul Steel was active as a squash player in the 1990s and won a title on the PSA World Tour during that time . In July 1994 he reached 18th place, his highest ranking in the world rankings.

With the New Zealand national team he took in 1991 , 1993 , 1995 , 1997 , 1999 and 2001 at the World Cup in part. At the Commonwealth Games 1998 he represented New Zealand with Daniel Sharplin in the doubles competition, in which the two were eliminated in the group stage.

In 1994 and 1995 Steel was in the main field of the individual world championships. He reached the round of 16 in 1994, the following year he did not get past the first round. From 1992 to 2001 he was New Zealand national champion ten times in a row . The New Zealand Squash Federation inducted Steel into its Hall of Fame . After his career as a player, he worked as a coach for many years, especially in Switzerland .
