from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Paul Tornado , real name: Paul Hajenius (born July 17, 1951 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch punk musician , painter and photographer.

Hajenius studied fine arts at the AKI in Enschede . In 1973 he founded the group Johnny And The Moondog with his fellow students Willem Wisselink and Cees Maas , which became known regionally. In 1977 Hajenius became famous under the name Paul Tornado . He brought out the first Dutch punk hit with the single Van Agt Casanova / Ik wil jou zijn (mijn idool) . The song turned against the politician Dries van Agt , who wanted to forbid the showing of porn films in cinemas with more than 50 seats. Van Agt Casanova was released on the 1000 Idioten Label . The name 1000 Idioten Label is based on the assumption that there are always around 1000 idiots who buy a record and so the production costs are automatically brought in again. The Dutch broadcaster VPRO played the single very often and Paul Tornado performed with his band at the Paradiso in Amsterdam.

Tornado takes photos and paints. He lives and works in Enschede.
