Paul Weiß (politician, 1909)

Paul Weiß (born February 18, 1909 in Neusiedl am See , † March 25, 1965 in Vienna ) was an Austrian master shoemaker and politician ( SPÖ ). Weiß was married and a member of the Burgenland Landtag .

Weiß was born as the son of the farmer Johann Weiß from Neusiedl am See. He attended elementary school in Neusiedl and subsequently worked as a shoemaker. After two years of wandering in Germany, he was based in Burgenland and from 1938 worked in a shoe factory in Brunn am Gebirge . White served in the Wehrmacht between 1944 and 1945 and was taken prisoner by the Americans. After the war, Weiß worked as a self-employed master shoemaker and ran a shoe shop.

Weiss became a member of the SPÖ in 1945 and was Vice Mayor of Neusiedl between 1945 and 1964. He co-founded the Free Trade Association and from 1948 was the shoemaker's guild master. In addition, from 1948, Weiß was also chairman of the Burgenland regional health insurance fund. White was sworn in as a member of the Burgenland state parliament on November 4, 1949 and held his mandate until April 17, 1964. In 1964, white had to resign from all political offices due to illness. He passed away a year later.
