Paul Marie André de Senneville (born July 30, 1933 in Paris ) is a French composer of instrumental music and music producer . His best-known works include Ballade pour Adeline , Mariage d'amour and Dolannes Melodie .

Life

Paul de Senneville began his career as a journalist for various daily newspapers such as France Soir . He also worked as a producer for television productions. In 1962 he composed his first own pieces and became director of the record label Disc AZ . In this role he wrote soundtracks for films and produced works by other composers. He worked with Michel Polnareff and Olivier Toussaint , among others . Together with Toussaint, de Senneville founded the pop band Anarchic System in 1972 , whose music he produced for the next five years.

In 1975 Paul de Senneville and Olivier Toussaint achieved great success with Dolannes Melodie . The piece, recorded by Jean-Claude Borelly , was created for the film A Shroud Has No Pocket and was nominated for a César in the category Best Film Music . The following year, de Senneville composed his most famous piece, Ballade pour Adeline , through which the pianist Richard Clayderman celebrated his breakthrough. In total, he wrote more than 400 pieces for Clayderman, including Mariage d'amour in 1979.

Paul de Senneville says he can neither read nor write notes nor play the piano. When a new work is created, he simply makes a recording of the melody sung or hummed by him, which is then later played by a pianist or an orchestra.

Paul de Senneville is married and has two daughters, Delphine and Adeline (for whose birth he wrote Ballade pour Adeline ).
