Paula Mielke

Paula Mielke (born on December 27, 1910 as Paula Jungmann . Sens in Hamburg , † May 22, 1946 in Flensburg ) was a German resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Live and act

Paula Mielke grew up in Hamburg and was active in a children's group. As a young woman she was an office worker. In 1933 she was secretary of the district committee of the Revolutionary Trade Union Opposition (RGO) in the Wasserkante district (Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein ) and a member of the KPD . She was arrested in late 1933 and was in custody until the end of December 1934. In May 1934 she was sentenced to one year in prison for preparation for high treason . After she was released, she continued to engage in illegal work and was arrested again. From February 1936 she was in protective custody and then in Fuhlsbüttel concentration camp until December 1936 . In 1937 she was divorced . In 1938 she married her second husband Oskar Mielke. In 1939 the daughter Heike was born. During the war, her husband was drafted into the 999 Parole Battalion . After the war she was active again in the KPD and participated in the reconstruction. She worked as a secretary for the Hamburg Senator for Health, Fiete Dettmann .

While working for the party in Flensburg, she suffered a heart attack and was buried on May 31, 1946 in the Ohlsdorf cemetery with a large number of participants .

Her daughter Heike Lorenzen (1939–2018) was active as a staff councilor and in senior work for the ver.di union in Hamburg.
