Paul Vilhelm "Pauli" Salonen (born February 14, 1916 in Hollola , † January 10, 2009 in Lahti ) was a Finnish cross-country skier and Nordic combined athlete .

Salonen, who started for the Lahden Hiihtoseura , took 184th place over 18 km and 48th place in the Nordic Combined at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1938 . At the Nordic World Ski Championships in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1941 , he won the silver medal in the Nordic combined. Five years later, the FIS declared this World Championship to be invalid, which is why this medal no longer has official status. In 1943 and 1945 he took fourth place in Nordic Combined at the Lahti Ski Games . At the Olympic Winter Games in St. Moritz in 1948 , he ran to 24th place over 18 km and seventh place in the Nordic Combined. The following year he came third in the Nordic Combined at the Lahti Ski Games.
