Paulo Flores

Paulo Flores (born July 2, 1972 in Luanda , Angola ) is an Angolan singer .

Life

As a toddler, Flores left Luanda, the capital of the Portuguese colony of Angola, and spent his childhood in Lisbon . He started out as a Kizomba singer and released his first album in 1988.

In April 2007 he appeared at the First Luanda Triennale , an exhibition of contemporary art.

On July 4th, 2008, Paulo Flores gave one of the greatest concerts in Angola's history in front of 25,000 spectators in the Estádio dos Coqueiros national stadium .

Essential pieces of his music can be heard in the French film La Grande Ourse .

style

His native style of music is known as semba .

Most of his songs are written in Portuguese , but some are also in Kimbundu . His subjects are often political and deal with the hardships of everyday life in Angolan, such as war and corruption .
